Global Warming: How to Solve an Intractable Problem?

In Copenhagen on 10-12 March 2009 ANU academics will participate in an important international Congress which will focus on Climate Change - Global Risks, Challenges and Decisions.  Will Steffen the ANU Climate Change Institute Executive Director is the Deputy Chair of the Scientific Steering Committee for the Congress.  Will is working in close collaboration with colleagues who are members of the International Alliance of Research Universities (IARU) preparing for this timely and important Congress leading up to the UNFCCC CoP 15 event scheduled for December  2009.

Prof Katherine Richardson from Copenhagen University and Chair of The Scientific Steering Committee explained,”the purpose of the congress is to try and capture some of the enormous research energy currently being devoted to elucidation, mitigation and adaptation to climate change.”

The main findings of this Congress will, after agreement with the Danish Government be handed over to the participants at the CoP15.
