Australia-China Climate Change Forum
China is now the largest national annual emitter of Greenhouse Gases (GHGs). Australia is one of the largest per capita annual emitters. Our respective economies are inter-dependent and GHG intensive. The Australia China Climate Change Forum, to be held on Wednesday 15 April 2009 at The Australian National University, will stimulate domestic discussion in each country, explore overlap in respective national interests, increase the engagement between Chinese and Australian officials and improve mutual understanding of domestic circumstances. From 7-18 December 2009 the world will meet in Copenhagen in an attempt to construct a global climate change protocol to succeed the Kyoto Protocol. Australia and China will be critical to success in Copenhagen.
