About us
Flexibility
Children can attend one day per week through to full time care.
Community spirit
HERITAGE is a small, community-based, not-for-profit centre which values parent participation and welcomes them to visit their children during the day, attend various social functions, and contribute to management decisions.
Family grouping

Contact between the babies, toddlers and preschoolers is encouraged at various times throughout the day to develop children's communication skills, to teach consideration for others, to allow siblings to spend time together and to allow staff to get to know all the children at the centre and work as a team.
Special Programs
Music and Yoga
HERITAGE has an extensive creative music program which is integrated into the daily routine.
We also have a music teacher and yoga teacher who provide instruction to the children one day a week at a small additional cost.
The times of music and yoga lessons can be found on Routines Sheets on the noticeboards in each room.
Fit Beginnings
A qualified Physical Education instructor teaches the children coordination, spatial and body awareness and specific motor skills. The times of Fit Beginnines can be found on the Routine Sheets on the noticeboards in each room.
Preschool
A full preschool curriculum is offered to encourage children to develop skills which will enable an easier transition into school including independence and the development of life skills. For children in the year prior to school, the program is more specific in teaching early reading and maths skills. It also focuses on cultural awareness and includes many excursions to venues around Canberra.
Multicultural
We value the different gifts that each child possesses and we ensure that they are allowed to blossom and expand. This means that we value and treasure each child whatever her or his gender, race, religion, ethnic or social background. In particular we are aware of the different cultural background of the children and we encourage all children to respect and value those differences.
Relaxed atmosphere
HERITAGE has an easy flow of stimulating activities and quiet times.
Beautiful outdoor play area
Heritage is located just a short walk from the shores of Lake Burley Griffin and situated in a quiet, leafy part of the ANU campus. It has a large landscaped garden with shaded areas, large sandpit, winding paths for bikes and a wide variety of safe play equipment. A well shaded sandpit and play area is also available at the rear of the baby room for use whenever babies need some quiet play time.
