Care Allocation

When allocating child care, every attempt is made to meet the member's requirements. This is not always possible at the time required. However requests for other days will be noted on the internal waiting list. Changes in care may be requested during the year after discussion with the Director. Forward planning forms for the following year's care are distributed in October/November.

Priority of Access

The Centre adheres to the Priority of Access guidelines as issued by the Department of Family and Community Services.

In addition AECC gives priority to:

Movement within the centre

Where possible, children are moved to the appropriate section according to age; this is governed by the availability of care and the developmental needs of the child. Throughout the year staff will assess a child's readiness to move up and will discuss this with the parents. Every effort will be made to accommodate the child's needs and parents wishes as to moving up or staying in a group. However the overall centre occupancy rate and needs of children across all the groups must also be taken into consideration when moving children between groups. More information about this is available in the Enrolment Policy which is available from the Director.

Extra days

If space is available due to another child being absent, additional days may be booked through the Director or Administrative Officer on a casual basis. Extra days are only available for children who are already at the centre.

Credit days for Public Holidays

The centre currently offers families the opportunity to book an alternative day of child care at no cost, if a day of care is missed due to a public holiday. This is only available to children who attend part time as the full time fee is significantly reduced and compensates for Public Holidays. Alternative days will only be available if there is a vacancy or absence in the group required. There is no guarantee that all days missed will be able to be made up. Fees will not be refunded for days missed due to Public Holidays. For more details see the Public Holiday Policy document available from the office.

Half days

The centre is currently offering permanent half day sessions in Pre-school whenever there is an unfilled place within the group. Sessions are for four hours either from 8.15am-12.15pm or 2.00pm-6.00pm. Half day sessions are offered on a casual basis in Toddlers subject to availability. For further details please see the Half Day Care policy document available from the office.

Changing days

Any requests to cancel or change care days must be in writing giving two weeks' notice in advance to the Director. This assists administration and enables us to fill vacancies quickly. Change of Care Arrangements forms are available from the office.

Notification of absences

If your child is unable to attend on a booked day, please notify the centre no later than 9:30am on 6125 5554.

If the absence is a long one, please notify the Director in writing. Any absence known in advance should be notified to staff as soon as possible. Variation to Attendance forms may be found near the sign on sheet for your child's room.
