Fine woodwork for women

An introduction to the basic concepts of fine woodworking.
Learn how to develop hand skills that will achieve precision of the widening joint using traditional hand planing tools.

Fine woodworking level 2

Explores more advanced techniques of fine woodworking and introduces students to the concept of design interpretation. Instruction is project-based with an emphasis on one-on-one consultation between student and staff. A prerequisite of Fine Woodworking: level 1 is required.

Within the format of the Japanese meditation/bath stool, this class introduces students to the fundamentals of mortise and tenon joinery and encourages them to explore ideas around proportion and detail.

Working with wood

This six hour day class gives students the opportunity to immerse themselves more fully in design wood technology and the techniques of construction. Students are taught in an interactive and practical way at the bench whilst working on a designated piece of fine furniture. No prerequisites although some woodworking skills would be an advantage.
