Assemblage

Assemblage is 3D collage – an artwork consisting of an arrangement of miscellaneous found objects. Be guided as you let your imagination and materials create your own spectacular sculpture discovering fabrication techniques along the way.

Course outline

Week 1: Introduction to the Art of Assemblage- its history and heroes Materials, tools & techniques Workshop orientation Projects
Week 2: Design development
Week 3-10: Fabrication of practical projects
*Regular review of works in process, demonstrations and discussion of sample works.

t the end of the course students should be able to:

*employ safe practices
*experiment and improvise

Essential to bring from first class - gloves, eye and ear protection. suitable leather shoes for the welding bay and protective clothing (long sleeves, cotton, long pants)
