Course outline

There will be an initial refresher followed by discussion about being in control of your camera, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, raw files, colour space, metering, depth of field, lenses, portraits and landscapes.

Using Bridge, Camera Raw and Photoshop software, you will focus on post production techniques as a way to further enhance your your image making.

You will learn about the construction of images through the use of layers and selections, adjustment layer masks, image stacking, colour management and using filters. You will also learn to scan negatives and positives of construction and to stitch multiple elements into a single image.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course, you should:

  • be confident in using the manual controls of your camera
  • increased skills in composition, image production, post production and visual communication
  • use Photoshop, Camera Raw and Bridge software with ease, and
  • added to or develop a folio of your images to display.

Who should enrol

Intermediate photographers and those who want to advance their image making and processing skills.


Students must provide a digital camera that can shoot Raw. To gain the full benefit a DSLR (digital single lens reflex) camera is suggested.  Please bring to each session a small portable USB to save your post produced work.
