A Taste of Tuscany, Umbria and the Po Valley

A wonderful trip, 2-3 days in Rome (including Tivoli), nearly 2 weeks living in Montepulciano, exploring hill top towns in Tuscany and Umbria, then to Parma and Mantua, living in the great Renaissance court cities and exploring the river byways. A trip never to be forgotten. MORE INFORMATION

Archaeological field work, Arica, Chile

Sixteen days of field work are planned and will involve a range of activities including the excavation of an archaic site in the Lluta Valley, survey of sites at the mouth of the Quebrada de Vitor, and the continuation of survey and recording of Inka Trails near Zapahuira and Socoroma in the Andean Cordillera. Apart from recording, excavation and the sorting and cataloguing of artefacts we will also visit other sites in the area. The project is conducted in association with the Universidad de Tarapaca, Arica. MORE INFORMATION

An introduction to Andean archaeology: Chile, Boliva and Peru

This shorter version of our Andean Adventure tour will enable those participating in our fieldwork project to follow it with a tour from highland Chile, into Bolivia and conclude in Peru. This tour will provide a basic understanding of the cultures of the Central Andean Region of South America and visit a range of sites including La Paz, Tiwanaku, Isla del Sol in Lake Titicaca, Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley and the coastal sites of Tambo Colorado and Nazca. This tour can be taken separately or in conjunction with the field-work. An option is available to walk the Inka Trail (add four days). MORE INFORMATION

Landscape and life: Cezanne and Pagnol in Provence

We offer you an opportunity to study in Aix-en-Provence and the surrounding area, visiting sites related to the paintings of Paul Cezanne, and the novels of Marcel Pagnol. The course will comprise of lectures, analysis and practical exercises while absorbing the cuisine, culture and lifestyle of this most historic and distinctive part of France.

Pyramids, Temples and Tombs: the archaeology of Mexico

We will traverse a range of environments from the Valley of Mexico to highland Chiapas, spectacular mountain lakes and snow capped volcanoes, through the dense forests of the Peten and cross the scrubby, undulating northern Yucatan to the turquoise blue waters of the Caribbean. Places visited include: Mexico City, Teotihuacan, Puebla, Oaxaca, San Cristabel de las Casas, Palenque, Sumidero Canyon, Uxmal, Chichen Itza and Tulum. Dates and prices to be fixed in November 2008.
