Harcourt Health Sciences
2002 Pricing Information

Updated 31 July, 2001

Harcourt Health Sciences now has two programs in place for licensing the larger 143+ title HHS collection:
1) a "pick and choose" IPL (Institutional Publications License) model for licensing individual HHS e-journals, and
2) a consortial pricing model for the entire 143-title HHS package. Please note that pricing for both of these programs is entirely independent of HHS print holdings.
Important update (31 July 2001):
Academic Press IPL pricing is independent of the number of sites in an institution. Harcourt Health Sciences, however, wants us to count each site of an institution individually when calculating the cost of either an HHS IPL license or an HHS Consortial License for that institution.  The definition of a site is the same for both types of HHS licenses:

A SITE is defined as an academic or research institution, university, college, government agency, medical school, medical center, or hospital, generally on a single contiguous geographical campus.  A university, university medical school, and university hospital count as three institutions or sites. A hospital and its affiliated clinic may be counted as one institution or site.  A "stand-alone" clinic counts as one institution or site.

The total price calculated by the HHS IPL workbook should be multiplied by the number of sites that will be accessing those titles.

For the HHS IPL, here's an Excel workbook for individual sites to generate a quote for selected HHS titles, and the license for the HHS IPL.

For the HHS consortial program, here's the full list of titles, the Consortia Pricing Table, and the addendum that will add this 143-title package to the existing CAUL APPEAL license.

Pricing for the HHS consortium model is based on number of sites.

For 2002, licensees already holding the 62-title HHS package may:
1) Roll over the existing 62-title package, and add selected new titles under the IPL program. The 2002 price increase for the 62-title HHS package is 7.5%.
2) Discontinue the 62-title package as of 2002, and sign a 143-title package instead. The 143-title license begins in 2002, but includes access to all HHS 2001content, so no credit/refund will be issued to existing 62-title licensees for 2001.
3) Discontinue the 62-title package (subject to existing IDEAL cancellation deadlines) and select individual titles from among the 143.
