The Careers Centre assists students to:

  • Identify career options and preferences
  • Understand the labour market
  • Prepare excellent, industry relevant applications
  • Prepare for job interviews and other selection processes such as assessment centres
  • Identify relevant employers across all sectors, locally, nationally and internationally

Career Development Programs

Generic Careers Seminars - the Careers Centre offers an ongoing program of career development seminars. Topics include career planning, preparing job applications, job interview skills, networking and the hidden job market, preparing for graduate employment programs, vacation work and work experience and working internationally. See our Career Essentials Program for a sample of our generic workshops.

Specialised programs – in collaboration with individual faculties, the Careers Centre runs specialised programs to meet the needs of particular student groups. Recently these have included programs in the faculties of Engineering and IT, Arts, Science and Law as well as programs for postgraduates in CRES, the John Curtin School, Faculty of Economics, RSISE, NCEPH and APSEG.

If you wish to discuss ideas for targeted career development programs for your students, please contact us on 6125 3593 or email: careers@anu.edu.au

Career Resources

Supporting our training programs is a wide range of written and multi-media resources available free to all students.

Student Employment Service - Tapping into the ANU Talent Pool for on-campus Employment

Many ANU students seek casual and part-time employment during their studies for income support, but also for the opportunity to gain valuable employment experience and employability skills. The Careers Centre advertises numerous part-time, casual and and full-time vacancies suitable for ANU students on CareerHub, our web-based employment noticeboard.

On-campus employment can be very appealing to students due to the convenient location, range and flexibility of options that may be available. Examples of positions advertised for ANU offices to date include administration, reception, research assistant, finance, IT and project officer roles.

To lodge a vacancy call us on 6125 3593 or email: careers@anu.edu.au You can also place your own advertisement directly on to CareerHub by first registering as an Employer. The link for registration and information about this and our full range of services for employers can be viewed at Services for Employers

We are also more than happy to provide guidance on structuring the opportunity to accomodate student availability (ie. casual, on-going, short-term, job-share arrangements etc), effective wording of job advertisements and requirements for selection processes.
