Services for Employers

The Careers Centre offers a range of services to assist you in connecting with ANU students to promote a wide range of employment opportunities, including casual, vacation, work experience and graduate opportunities. These services include:


Online Listing of Employment Vacancies - CareerHub

CareerHub, the Careers Centre’s electronic noticeboard, provides students with access to the latest graduate, vacation, casual, internship and work experience vacancies and information Australia-wide and internationally. CareerHub is the most effective way to inform students about your graduate programs and employment vacancies. To advertise employment opportunities on CareerHub simply:

This service is free of charge to individual employers. A cost may apply for recruitment agencies.

Visit the CareerHub Employer Console to view the Guidelines and Policy information for use of this service. Please note also the following recent change of policy for CareerHub users: 

As of January 2009, the ANU Careers Centre will no longer be listing job advertisements on CareerHub for domestic service positions based in/or at people's homes. This includes jobs such as cleaning, home help, gardening, maintenance, labouring and childcare.

The ANU Careers Centre will be suggesting that students seeking this type of casual employment do so directly through companies or agencies registered in the provision of these services.

Secondary level tutoring jobs which are directly lodged by individuals and not third parties with relevance to students' academic studies will continue to be placed on Careerhub.Please note that it is your responsibility as an employer to ensure that students are adequately covered for workers compensation for these and any other paid positions lodged on Careerhub.

All positions advertised on ANU CareerHub remain at the discretion of the Manager, ANU Careers Centre.Commission only jobs and jobs where the student is employed as a contractor and not a PAYE employer will generally not be posted, and any jobs posted by third parties or recruitment agencies may incur a fee.


On-campus Presentations to Students - Employer Visits Program (EVP)

Inform students directly of your recruitment activities and requirements through an on-campus employer presentation. You are welcome to arrange a presentation at any time during the academic year from 2 March 2009

Presentation Cost: $220 (incl. GST) per 1 hour information session.

For your convenience, facilities are also available for you to conduct on-campus interviews.

Tertiary to Work 2009, Canberra's Graduate Job Fair

Thursday 2 April 1-5pm, National Convention Centre, Canberra

Meet with students from the ANU, University of Canberra, and the Australian Catholic University all in the one convenient location. The fair will allow you to showcase graduate employment opportunities to students from a broad range of academic disciplines.


Law Careers Fair

Thursday 12 March 2009, Melville Hall, ANU

Promote your organisation's graduate and vacation/clerkship opportunities directly to ANU's high calibre law students.

Additional Services for Promotion of Graduate Opportunities

Additional services for promoting graduate and vacation employment opportunities to ANU students, include targeted mail and emails to particular student cohorts; and employer participation in career education workshops and activities. These are outlined below: 

Mailing Service for Prospective Employers of ANU Students

The Careers Centre is pleased to offer a direct mailing service through which employers can contact final year students about graduate employment, or penultimate year students about vacation or summer clerkship opportunities.           

We offer this service subject to the following conditions:     

  • Only information that deals specifically with graduate, summer vacation, internship and trainee employment or scholarships will be sent to students.       
  • We are able to run reports on, and identify students according to study program (we are unable to run reports on specific majors), expected completion and nationality.       
  • Your information needs to include a disclaimer that the information is being sent through the ANU Careers Centre in order to ensure the confidentiality of student information. An example of a disclaimer is: "This information has been sent out by The Australian National University's Careers Centre. The employer has not had access to your personal details."
  • Mail outs need to be accompanied by a letter of instruction and contact details for invoicing.     

Fees       

  • A research and administration fee of $55 applies to all requests for email or mail to students. This fee will apply to any research conducted, even if it does not result in a mail out to students.       
  • $2.20 per D/L size envelope               
  • $3.30 per A4 size envelope               

All costs are in Australian dollars and include GST.
        
Please Note: Material to be sent to students should be sent to the Careers Centre packed in blank unsealed envelopes.

Email Service for Prospective Employers of ANU Students 

A direct email service is available through which employers can contact ANU students.
       
We offer this service subject to the following conditions:             

  • Only information that deals specifically with graduate/summer vacation vacancies or scholarships will be sent to students.       
  • We are able to run reports on, and identify students according to study program (we are unable to run reports on specific majors), expected completion and nationality.       
  • The information to be sent should be as brief as possible, approximately 1/2 A4 page. We are unable to send attachments.               
  • Your information to be emailed needs to include a disclaimer stating that it is being sent through the ANU Careers Centre in order to ensure the confidentiality of student information. An example of a disclaimer is: "This information has been sent out by The Australian National University's Careers Centre. The employer has not had access to your personal details."               
  • Contact details for invoicing must be provided.             

Fees

  • A research and administration fee of $55 applies to all requests for email or mail to students. This fee will apply to any research conducted, even if it does not result in an email to students.         
  • $1.10 per email per student inclusive of GST.   

All costs are in Australian dollars and include GST.

Individual Recruitment Interviews

The Careers Centre has two individual interview rooms and a newly refurbished seminar room available for use for interviews and assessment style recruitment processes. You may book to use these facilities at any time during the academic year.

The Careers Centre can:  

  • Provide private interview rooms       
  • Provide morning and afternoon tea for interviewers       
  • Check in students at the time of interview             

Cost: The cost of hire of interview rooms is $220.00 per room per day.
All costs are in Australian dollars and include GST.


Discipline Specific Careers Events on Campus  

A number of discipline-related careers fairs and events are held throughout the year at the ANU. In previous years events have been held in the areas of Law, Engineering and IT, Economics and Commerce, International Relations, Environmental Studies and many more. The Careers Centre can provide you with information and contact details for events on campus.
