International Students

Careers Service staff extend a warm welcome to all international students studying at ANU.

The Careers Centre offers advice, information and support to local and international students preparing for work. All services are available to international students, except the Australian-based Graduate Recruitment Programs, for which permanent residency/citizenship is a requirement.

International students can use Careers Centre services from first year onwards to find out what international employers are looking for in graduates. The Centre can also give advice on how to find a part-time job or volunteer work while studying. In addition to advising students on how to prepare effective job applications, the Centre also assists with interview preparation.

ANU also has CareerHub, a gateway to job vacancies and career related information for exclusive use of current students and recent graduates. International students should register on CareerHub as soon as possible to access job advertisements, workshop information and useful career articles and links.

You should also read the Current Students page to find out about the full range of services available to ANU students

Services specifically for international students include:

  • customised workshops/seminars on career planning and other topics (advertised on CareerHub)
  • a separate listing of international jobs and internships on CareerHub, including Graduate Recruitment Programs offered by international employers for students returning home
  • hardcopy resources such as International Students Returning Home: A Guide to Useful Web Sites (covering 13 countries) and Overseas Opportunities: A Guide to Useful Web Sites (worldwide), and
  • access to Going Global online country guides, a web site listing labour market and other information for 23 countries (the country guides can only be accessed from the Careers Centre computers).
