| The Biology program in the Bachelor of Science degree prepares students
for careers in some of the most exciting and rapidly expanding areas
of science. The program covers a great range of subjects involved in
applications such as drug design, genetic engineering and the treatment
of cancer. Employment may be found in research, medical and clinical
sciences, conservation and environmental planning, forensics, agriculture,
government departments and in private industry.

| Preparation at college |
We recommend that students study chemistry in college because many of
our biology courses require a first year chemistry prerequisite which
can only be undertaken by students who have college chemistry. However
the Department of Chemistry does offers bridging courses for students
who did not study chemistry in college.
|
| The Universities Admission Index score necessary to
qualify for a Bachelor of Science at the ANU in 2006 was 83. This may
alter from year to year depending on government policy and student demand. |
| Choosing your first year program |
The Biology Program Planner can help you choose courses in your areas of interest. You may choose
any combination of these provided you meet the prerequisites listed in
the Undergraduate Handbook.
