Bachelor of Science

The Bachelor of Science is a three year program which provides students with a wide range of choice in many science related areas. First year students can choose one of five packages offered by the Faculty of Science. Students who commence a Bachelor of Science degree in 2006 and thereafter, will be required to complete at least two science majors (or a double major) as part of their program.

The School of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and School of Botany and Zoology offer a wide range of courses at the undergraduate level. The Biology Planner will assist students to plan majors in the Biological sciences. Students can combine single or double majors with other science majors and courses from other faculties. In selecting courses, students should ensure that they select those that meet the prerequisite requirements of the second and third year courses making up their majors. Please see individual course descriptions for further information, particularly prerequisite requirements.

A BSc with majors in the Biological sciences can prepare students for a career in agriculture, biotechnology, environmental planning, forensic science, medical and clinical science, pharmaceuticals, public service, quarantine surveillance and research.

It is also possible to incorporate a program in Bioinformatics within either the Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Biotechnology Degrees.
