BaMBi Teaching Laboratory

The teaching laboratory is responsible for the preparation of all undergraduate practical classes held within the School. Practical sessions are held on the ground floor teaching laboratories Mon-Fri, usually between 2-5pm. There are currently four separate laboratories, two in the Weidermann wing for first year and microbiology courses and two in the Birt wing catering for all remaining courses.

Laboratory Manuals, Laboratory Coats & Safety Glasses

Before you start your practical sessions there are a few things you need to do:

• Purchase your Laboratory manual at the Co-op bookshop.

• You must have a laboratory coat and safety glasses before participating in a laboratory course. You can purchase these items from the Co-op bookshop.

Signing up for Practical Classes

• First year students need to sign up for practical classes 1004 & 1007 before the first practical class as only a limited number of positions are available each day. Sign up sheets are usually available at the first lecture.

• Some second year courses are also split into separate groups which require you to sign up - you will be advised of this in your first lecture.

Handing in/Picking up Lab Reports and Assignments

Unless otherwise directed by your course convenor, lab reports and assignments can be dropped into the lab assignment boxes located just outside the First Year Convenor's office on the ground floor . Marked lab reports and assignments are usually available for collection from the BaMBi enquiries office on the 1st floor.
