Indroductory Hindi B should be taken concurrently with Basic Hindi Conversation B.

Textbooks

Online chapter by chapter lessons & exercises are provided to accompany the course texts:
  • An Introduction to Hindi and Urdu by Richard Barz and Yogendra Yadav (Munshiram Manoharlal, New Delhi:2000)

  • Hindi Exercise Manual with set of CD Recordings by Richard Barz and Yogendra Yadav (Canberra:1994)

Syllabus:

The Introductory Hindi Course encourages students to:

  • read and write the Hindi script.
  • apply the grammatical constructs and frameworks of the Hindi language.
  • read graded Hindi texts and original compositions in Hindi.

Assessment Requirements:

The assessment requirements are defined in the Couse Outline.

Contact Hours:

Two hours of lectures a week throughout the semester.
