Why be a Green Rep:

  • Save your workplace money while reducing its environmental impact
  • Develop your communication, facilitation and leadership skills
  • Gain environmental auditing and reporting skills.
  • Improve your CV and expand your career options.
  • Play a key role in making the ANU a sustainable campus.
  • Get a certificate for each training course completed
  • Receive a certificate signed by the VC for your work as a Green Rep.

Why should my organisation participate?

By participating in the program, workplaces and halls of residence gain access to resources, training and guidance from ANUgreen to introduce simple yet effective environmentally friendly workplace practices and management systems while at the same time driving down operational costs.

Who can be a green rep?

General staff, academics, and PhD students with a full time presence in a workplace are encouraged to nominate themselves as a Green Office Rep. The same range of staff/students AND lab technicians are encouraged to nominate themselves as Green Labs Reps. Students or staff members from halls of residence can nominate themselves to be part of the Green Residents Group.

Can there be more than one green rep per department?

The short answer is “YES”. With more than one person, you can make headway with sustainability more quickly, it’s more fun, and you won’t burn yourself out (personal sustainability is important too!). By having more than one green rep per workplace, you can also share the responsibility of attending training. A participating workplace simply needs to ensure that at least ONE green rep attends each training session.
