Julie Melrose

JD/GDLP (expected 2013)

Community advocate, political activist and graduate student in international environmental law and legal practice, Julie Melrose has made an outstanding contribution to ANU and the community. As the President of the Postgraduate and Research Students’ Association she has promoted community amongst postgraduate students and played an active role at the University.

Julie is Assistant Director (Projects) at the Conservation Council ACT and was recently preselected as the ACT Greens candidate for the Federal seat of Canberra. Julie has been working for social and environmental justice in various roles for the last five years and she is a member of the National Environmental Law Association and Australian Lawyers for Human Rights. Julie was also the founder and director of the ANU Student Delegation to the Rio+20 UN Conference on Sustainable Development.
