National Institutes Grant

The ANU was established in 1946 with a special charter – to give the nation a world-class capacity in research in subject areas which were going to be important for the nation’s future.

ANU: Australia's national university

As the nation’s university, ANU delivers research and scholarship that contributes to advancing Australia and the region. To support this unique mission, the National Institutes Grant (NIG) has been provided by the Australian Government to ANU since its foundation in recognition of the role the University plays as a resource of national significance.
