The 2018 election of two members of Council by members of the academic staff of the University was held in accordance with the Australian National University Act 1991, the Council (Elections) Statute 2016 and the Council (Elections) Rule 2016.

For the position Academic staff (Institute) member 2 candidates nominated for election. For the position Academic staff (Faculties) member 3 nominated for election. All candidates and their nominators were checked against the academic staff roll comprising those holding a full-time or part-time standard or fixed term academic staff appointment in the University on pay day 14 June 2018 and who were paid a salary by the University on that day. All nominations were in order.

An electronic ballot was conducted, using the University's APOLLO system. By the close of the poll, 302 academic staff had registered a vote.

The scrutiny of the electronic count was conducted in the office of the Returning Officer (Corporate Governance & Risk Office) at 12:00pm on Thursday 2 August 2018.  Mr Simon Jenkins from the Strategic Communications and Public Affairs Division has verified the results of the count.
