Election of professional staff to the Board

Summary of 2016 election process

The membership term for the two members of the professional staff elected from amongst their number expired on 1 May 2016.

A call for nominations was circulated to eligible staff via email on 7 March 2016. 

The members elected will hold office for a term of two years from 1 May 2016.

At the close of nominations on 22 March 2016, 5 nominations had been received.  The candidates were: Dr Stephen Milnes, Ms Jennifer Nott, Mr Paul Pretor, Mr Colin Simpson and Ms Tess Snowball.

Therefore an online ballott was held.  Voting in the ballot closed at 5pm on Monday 11 April 2016.

The outcome of the Election of members of Academic Board by the professional staff of the University has been finalised and following a counting of the votes, the following have been declared elected;

Jennifer Nott, Executive Officer, College of Medicine, Biology and Environment | College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences

Tess Snowball, Manager, Academic Skills & Learning Centre




For the purpose of this election a member of the professional staff is a person holding a full-time or part-time standard or fixed-term general staff appointment in the University on pay day 25 February 2016 and who was paid a salary by the University on that day.  All references in the Rules to 'general staff' are interpreted as meaning 'professional staff'.
