About the ANU Gateway

The ANU gateway provides a central point of navigation for major ANU audience groups.

The gateway includes ANU Home, Future Students, Current Students, Research & Education, About ANU, Staff and an A-Z index.

Using this Template

This visual design is reserved for use in the gateway only and should not be copied to other ANU pages.

For the design of other ANU sites, please refer to the ANU Web Style Guide.

Design Purpose

The gateway provides a starting point for people who are unfamiliar with ANU or not sure what they are looking for. It acts as an introductory guide to ANU, not a complete reference to every part of the ANU website.

The A-Z index contains additional links and supports both experienced and novice ANU site visitors.

A-Z Index

The A-Z index contains links in addition to those on other gateway pages. It is a work in progress and should not be considered an exhaustive reference.

Please contact us to submit suggested entries for the A-Z index. We need the name of the link, the underlying URL, and the name of the business unit responsible for the content on that page. To qualify for an A-Z entry, the page must be:

  • produced by ANU
  • compliant with ANU web visual identity guidelines
  • of significant interest to the ANU community
  • related to ANU research, teaching, outreach or administration

Homepage Features

The Features section on the ANU homepage is dedicated to showcasing broad and significant ANU activity, events or items to the University’s wider audience. Features are managed by the Marketing Office and updated regularly.

If you have an activity, event or item that you would like to submit for consideration please contact Marketing Office at advertising@anu.edu.au.

Standards Compliance & Compatibility

The gateway has been designed to comply with current standards, allowing for compatibility with assistive technologies (such as screen readers) and mobile devices.

The gateway site validates as XHTML 1.1, validates as CSS level 2.1, and conforms to WCAG 1.0 Level AAA.

While the gateway has been designed for a minimum window resolution of 1024 x 768, we recommend 1280 x 1024 for optimal viewing.

What happened to the Staff Directory?

The Staff Directory can be accessed via the search box at the top of every page.

  1. Enter a name or extension into the search box
  2. Select the Contacts option
  3. Select Go (or press Enter)
