Welcome to National Thai Studies Centre's home page.
The National Thai Studies Centre (NTSC), located at the
College of Asia and the Pacific in the Australia National University, promotes
the study of Thailand in all academic disciplines, Thai language
instruction, and public awareness of Thailand. It also supports linkages
with Thailand in a broad range of fields, including education, culture,
public administration and business.
This web page has been designed to function as a
meeting point for any group concerned with Thailand, Thai people or Thai
Studies. Articles appearing on it represent the views of the
authors, not the NTSC. Included also are links to many
organisations, from academic institutions to social clubs.

holding a Seminar on Tuesday the
5th of May. Details are:
Title: "The End of the Red Shirts?: The Future of Political Conflict
in
Thailand"
Speaker: Professor Medhi Krongkaew
Venue: Sparke Helmore Theatre 1 (Law)
Date/Time: Tuesday 5th of May – 12.30pm to 2.00pm
Summary:
The seminar will involve a presentation by Professor Medhi Krongkaew
from the National Anti-Corruption Commission in Bangkok. Professor Medhi
is a well-known scholar on Thailand and a former staff member of the
ANU. He will examine recent political events in Thailand, with emphasis
on the conflict between /'yellow shirt'/ supporters of the People's
Alliance for Democracy, and the /'red shirt', /pro-Thaksin supporters of
the United Front for Democracy Against Dictatorship.
