Introduction to Maple
Introduction
This is the online documentation for the
Maple
Laboratories.
MAPLE is invoked by double clicking on the
maple icon. A good way to introduce yourself to MAPLE is with a
Quick Tour (Macintoshes only).
Double clicking on the "Quick Tour Read Me" icon gives brief
instructions. Alternatively launch either the "Quick Tour" (for mathematicians)
or "QTour Eng Sci" (for scientists) by double clicking the icons. On PCs
use the comand "?intro".
Things to Try
Maple commands must be terminated with a semicolon ";".
They are executed by pressing the "enter" key or the
"shift-return" key combination. For example typing "1+1;" followed by
"enter" should produce the result "2". Try executing the following example:
- plot(sin(x)/x, x=-8..8,title=`The Sinc(x) Function`);
Maple Scientific Computing
Gleb Beliakov of the
Department of Mathematics of Melbourne University has
made available his Maple based Scientific Computing course.
His Maple scripts are in the folder "Beliakov maple scripts" in the Summer
school folder. They are only available on the PCs.
