We have now introduced a slightly amended schedule, which gives the authors a bit more leeway for revision. The new schedule is as follows: December 17 1998 - Submission deadline February 28 1999 - referee reports to authors April 30 1999 - deadline for revised papers May 31 1999 - acceptance deadline August 1999 - publication, issue 4 The papers contributed will be refereed under three categories: - Quantum Optics (Editor: Hans Bachor) - Atom Optics (Editor: Ken Baldwin) - Quantum Information (Editor: Gerard Milburn) Please indicate in which category you would like your manuscript to be submitted. Contributors should bring one original and three copies of their manuscripts and the associated camera ready figures to the conference, and submit them to the appropriate joint editor by the end of the conference week. In order to allow the publication of the most up to date results, the title of the manuscripts can vary from the abstracts submitted to the conference. As of next year, the journal under its new title "Journal of Optics B: Quantum and Semiclassical Optics" will appear in A4 format. We have therefore amended the page limit to EIGHT (8) A4 pages (one page is 900 words for the new A4 format c.f. 600 words for the previous B5 format). All papers that reach the refereed standards will be published in the journal, but in the case of oversubscription, some papers may be held over until the next regular issue of the Journal following the Special Issue. Selection for inclusion in the Special Issue will be based on excellence. The instructions for authors submitting manuscripts to the Journal can be found in the latest issue of the Journal, or at http://www.iop.org . Each corresponding author shall receive, if required, twenty five (25) free offprints of their paper. A discount price for pre-purchased copies of the Special Issue will be made available to contributors and conference attendees. This price will be £30 Sterling, compared to the usual unit price of £48. The deadline for early-bird payment will be April 30th, 1999. Contributing authors in the fields of Quantum and Atom Optics who wish to submit manuscripts can contact the joint editors below on any questions relating to the Special Issue. We look forward to seeing you in Christchurch at ACOLS '98.
