Public Events
The National Europe Centre hosts a successful public lecture and seminar series to offer the academic and wider Canberra community a regular forum for debate on Europe. In this forum our staff as well as visiting fellows present their research. The Centre has fostered links with government departments such as the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, both of which allow us to facilitate the exchange of expertise between academics and practitioners in the areas of diplomacy, trade and security. Additionally, our public events program involves joint activities with the Diplomatic Community. The Centre enjoys a close relationship with the Delegation of the European Commission to Australia and New Zealand and the Embassies, High Commissions and Consulates representing not only the EU and accession states but also the wider Diplomatic Community. This allows students and scholars alike the opportunity to explore new facets of Australian and European knowledge that deepens the understanding of our respective histories, cultures and common policy challenges. Central to our outreach commitment is to provide transcripts, and where possible, recordings of these events on our website.
Another aspect of our public events program is to host and promote art exhibitions and installations with an European theme.
