The European Summer School will be a five-day residential course covering the broad area of European Studies. It is aimed at pre-Honours and Honours level students but also welcomes all scholars considering postgraduate research in European Studies.

Topics covered during the Summer School:

  • European politics and integration
  • The European Union and the environment
  • European law and terrorism
  • Economic relations between Australia and the European Union
  • European culture and history; migration studies
  • The European Union in Australia and the Pacific region

The course will consist of lectures, seminars and workshop sessions during which participants will discuss individual issues in small groups, supervised by experts in the respective fields. Additional activities will consist of receptions at European diplomatic missions, visits to relevant political and cultural institutions located in Canberra, and several social events. On the final day of the European Summer School students will give short presentations on the outcomes of their group research.

Participants of the Summer School will receive a certificate of attendance after completion of this intensive course.

COST The cost for the European Studies Summer School is a $50 administration fee. Twenty scholarships are available to pay for tuition, accommodation, meals and social activities. Contributions towards travel expenses are also available.
