Judges for the Executive Summary Award

Glenn Dickens

Glenn has worked and invested in over 8 startup companies, three of which have since successfully listed, covering roles from inventor through to Chief Operating Officer. He has six degrees from Quantum Physics through to Psychology including an MBA and a PhD. He holds 6 full US patents, with many more in progress, and has numerous publications in the areas of audio signal processing, control and telecommunications. Of particular note, he was one of the inventors and business development leader of the technology now known as Dolby Headphone. Presently, Glenn works for Dolby Laboratories to research and develop audio technology with a particular brief to develop strategies and opportunities for online collaborative and interactive media.

Hamish Hawthorn

Hamish Hawthorn is the Chief Executive Officer of ATP Innovations – Australia's premier technology business incubator. Hamish has been involved in the commercialisation of technology for over 15 years with experience in the advanced manufacturing and life sciences sectors. Prior to joining ATP Innovations, Hamish directed strategic business development programs for a number of emerging Australian technology companies. He also has worked in economic and industry development for the Federal and New South Wales Governments, focusing on emerging technology businesses, particularly life-sciences, and early-stage entrepreneurship.

John Thorne

John has just commenced working at the Office of Commercialisation after a period of 15 years absence from the University, where he previously worked for ANUTech. In the intervening period he has worked for both the CSIRO and the GRDC and ran a successful commercialisation consulting business.
