The pattern stamp tool

The pattern stamp tool lets you paint with a pattern selected either from the pattern libraries which come with Photoshop or your own patterns.

To use the pattern stamp tool:

Select the tool

In the options bar: Choose a brush and set brush options.

Select a blending mode, opacity, and flow.

Select a pattern from the Pattern pop-up palette.

If you check Impressionist the pattern will be applied with an impressionistic effect.
