Illustrator provides several ways to save files: File > Save The Save command saves the document with its current name, location, and file format. The Save As command lets you save another version of the document with a different name, location, or file format. This option allows you to save your work for Web publication. In the dialog box you select and preview optimisation options.

Importing and ExportingImporting and Exporting Artwork. Illustrator can import and export common graphic file formats, which students work in such as EPS, GIF, JPEG, PICT, TIFF, PDF, and PostScript. To use an Illustrator document in another application, you must save or export the document in a file format that the other application can use. In other words you must choose a non-native file format. To save files in Illustrator or Illustrator EPS format, use the Save As or Save a Copy command. All other file formats are saved using the File > Export command. To export an Illustrator file in another format: Choose File > Export. Select the folder where you want to save the file, and rename the file or change the file extension to reflect the new file format. Choose a file format from the Format menu. Click Save. If you are exporting the document to a bitmap format, you may be asked to choose a resolution and bit depth for the bitmap.

To Rasterise a vector object:The Rasterise command converts vector objects into bitmap images. Once converted, because the object is rasterised you can apply Photoshop plug-in filters, to the image. However, remember that you cannot apply vector tools and commands such as the type tools and the Pathfinder commands to modify the rasterised object. Select the object you want to rasterise. |
