Be organized with your files. Firstly name your file in manner that makes sense. If you return to your file in a years time the name should be one that you will be able to understand. Keep clear and accurately named file directories. On Macs folders are file directories. Use screenshots and make notes and comments on the printouts, highlight files that need attention, or use them with a "To Do" list. In building a project there is something very satisfying in crossing off file after file as you attend to it. Make use of folders. So you need to be aware of how to create name and label folders. For each project I suggest you have one folder which includes all the graphic files and another folder for text another for work in progress and so on. By putting all your files into specific folders, duplicate or similar file names will become apparent. All files need unique file names to avoid accidental substitutions. Once a file is no longer required or is outdated archive it somewhere else. Never put outdated versions of the files on the same disk. Archiving old files is not difficult since you can easily burn them to CD. For the cost of a few dollars you can save yourself a lot of time. |
