Core_Computer Studies : Using "Get Info"

Use 'Get Info' to obtain information about a file.

During your working process you often have to find out how large a file is.

First click anywhere on the desk top. This means you have just shifted into the Finder .

Next select the file you want to find out about by clicking on it once. if you click twice you will open the file and you do not want that at the moment. once the file is selected in the desktop menu go to 'File' and then choose 'Get Info.'

If 'get info' is greyed out this means that you have not selected a file to get info on!

Next select General Information.

In the information that is revealed we can see the size of your document. You can also tell when the file was created, when it was last modified what kind of file it is, where it is located and you can lock or unlock your file. You can set the file to open using a particular application and keep brief notes about the file in the comments field.
