Core_Computer Studies : How to create a folder

You will quickly realise that you want to keep your files organized. To do this you will need to create folders in which to place files.

To create a folder

First click anywhere on the desk top. This means you have just shifted into the finder program.

To create a new folder first open the file menu and choose new folder.

When you let go of the menu you will see the icon of folder appear on the desktop.

To rename the folder.

You will need next, to rename it. First make sure the folder is selected. It is selected if it is highlighted.

If not, select the folder by clicking on it.

Next place the cursor arrow in the text region of the folder. The cursor will change to an " I ", when the cursor changes this means you can type in the area to rename it. You can also change the name of a file by using the same method.

Now you can drag and drop your files into the folder!

Now Create folders within folders

Double click on the folder you have just created it will open.

Now create 4 more folders to keep your work in and name them, Photoshop, Illustrator, 3D and website.

 

To place a file into a folder

To place a file into a folder drag the icon of the file over the top of the folder. You will notice that the folder becomes highlighted when you are in the right position. When the folder is highlighted release the mouse.

You can also place a file in the folder when the folder is open. To do this you simply select the file and drag it into the folder window.

Tip:

Name folders and images with a title that will make sense to you in the future. Use names that relate to the image or what is in the folder.
