Since we are using layers to aid layout we will place text in a layer. First create a layer.Click in the layer. With the insertion point anywhere in the layer you can type text directly into a layer, or you can cut and paste text from another document into a layer. To format text you use the Property inspector. To open the Property inspector use Window > Properties Click the expander arrow in the lower right corner to see all properties.
The Property inspector displays the formatting attributes of the text selected and lets you change them. From here you can apply paragraph and heading tags and changing the font characteristics. Format Applies a default block style to the text. Heading styles are the standardized HTML headings. The smaller the number of the heading, the bigger the heading will be. To change the font of the text in the layer first select the text. In the Property inspector's Format font menu, change from the Default Font, by clicking the pull down menu. From this you can select a font from those available.
Font Size is the next box along. These options apply to either a specific font size (1 through 7) or a font size (+ or -1 through + or -7) relative to the BASEFONT size (the default is 3).
Text Colour Displays the text in the selected colour, from here you can select a browser-safe colour by clicking the colour box, or enter a hexadecimal value (for example, #FF0000) in the adjacent text field. Bold and Italic are two buttons that apply the respective styles. Next along the line are boxes which enable you to set Left, Center, and Right Alignment.
The next box along is Unordered List which turns the selected paragraph or heading into an item in a bulleted list. Ordered List turns the selected paragraph or heading into an item in a numbered list. List Item opens the List Properties dialog box. You have to have a list created before this is no longer greyed out. The next boxes along are Indent and Outdent Indent which remove indentation from the selected text by applying or removing the BLOCKQUOTE tag. In a list, indenting creates a nested list, and removing the indentation un-nests the list.
