Core Computer: Dreamweaver Notes

Creating Links for selected text in Dreamweaver

You also use text properties to specify links and targets for selected text.

Highlight and select the text you want to become a link.

Select the folder icon next to Link in the properties window.

Browse to the page in your site you want to link to, highlight the file and click open

You can also specify links the old fashioned way and simply type the URL

The other way to specify links is to click and drag the Point-to-File icon to a file in the Site window.

If you are creating a site in frames Target specifies the frame or window in which the linked page should load. In a framed site the names of all of the frames in the current document appear in the list. You can also choose from the following reserved target names:

_blank loads the linked file in a new, unnamed browser window.

_parent loads the linked file in the parent frameset

_self loads the linked file in the same frame or window as the link.

_top loads the linked file in the full browser window, thereby removing all frames.
