The project is a website which revolves around the issues of portraiture and representation of the "self". It is designed to allow people who have had little or no computer experience to gather introductory skills to computers and digital imaging within the four areas of study while also providing scope for those with some knowledge to push their ideas further.
Using the image that is on the server students are expected to develop a number of iterations and explore how particular digital tools are used and produce a web site that represents the self.
The areas of study are : Photoshop, Illustrator. 3D and a web site. The idea is to learn what each of the areas of study can offer. For those who have had some experience or knowledge of computer work (eg. those who may have used Photoshop before, know how to save and retrieve files, etc.) we encourage you to extend your work both technically and conceptially.
Assessment in the form of a website is Tuesday November 6 2007
At the end of the semester it is expected that each student will present their work in electronic form as a website. This folder which contains your website should be loaded onto the Core Computer server.
Each student folder must be labelled with the student's full name. This folder will contain the website for your assessment.
These notes are written for students who undertake the Core Computer course at School of Art, Australian National University. Students of the course should feel free to contact any member of staff with comments questions and general suggestions..
