Generous, well-lit studio spaces provide for a personal space for each student as well as photo-finishing, display and tutorial areas. All studio spaces are air-conditioned. Photomedia has two, new, large darkroom complexes. One caters for colour and black and white photography with two state-of-the-art wide-format paper processors, and the other caters for mural printing, fine printing, toning, and non-silver techniques. Photomedia also has a digital studio for digital photography input, scanning and printing, as well as digital video, animation and multimedia. Students also work in the three computer teaching laboratories. It also provides a well equipped lighting studio with studio flash equipment. Although students are required to provide their own camera and photographic tools and equipment, Photomedia has a fully equipped store from which students may borrow additional photographic equipment such as medium and large format cameras, and accessories, if required.

Applications are welcome from school leavers and mature age students Australia wide and internationally. All prospective students are strongly encouraged to visit or make contact with the Workshop to discuss the various courses with staff. Students are especially encouraged to visit the Workshop on ANU Open Day, held in September each year, to talk with staff and students, see the Workshop facilities as well as exhibitions of staff and student work. Prospective students are interviewed and must present a folio of recent work. Applicants from overseas who are unable to attend an interview will be asked to provide evidence of their folio in the form of slides, photographs or digital images.
