The Papermaking Studio facilitates course requirements
of the Printmedia and Drawing Workshop and, through the
Complementary Studies component of the course, provides
access for other students who wish to learn about hand-made
paper. Students undertaking Honours or Postgraduate programs
of study may also access the facilities of the Papermaking
Studio. The teaching program offered by the Papermaking
Studio covers both European and Oriental techniques, and
their applications to contemporary papermaking. Students
are encouraged to experiment with different papers and
formats such as rag and long-fibre papers, book papers,
and large-scale dimensional casts. The studio is well-equipped,
with a Hollander Beater, stamper, pressing and drying
equipment, and both indoor and outdoor work areas.
