The work evolves from uncomplicated drawings, ideas changing as pieces are fabricated. One piece helps to create the next as single elements are moved about. Colour, proportion and form change, sometimes grossly, sometimes minutely to alter one piece from the next.
Born in Australia, Sally completed her Bachelor of Arts (Visual) with Honours in the Gold and Silversmithing Workshop, ANU School of Art in 1995.
In 1996 she received a grant from the Visual Arts/Crafts Board of The Australia Council to do a Traineeship with Helen Aitken-Kuhnen at Workshop Bilk in Michelago. She has exhibited both nationally and internationally since completing her degree. Awards and Grants include Pasminco Award for Holloware (1994), Mallesons Stephen Jacques Award for the Emerging Artists Support Scheme (1995) and most recently Visual Arts/ Craft Board Grant for New Work (2003). She held her first solo exhibition in November 2004 at Craft ACT: Craft and Design Centre.
Sally presently is in the position of Technical Officer in the Gold and Silversmithing Workshop at the ANU School of Art.
