Hooded Parrot Project

I am undertaking a project that explores the breeding and behavioural ecology of hooded parrots (Psephotus dissimilis) with an initial emphasis on exploring the relationship between the parrots and a moth that lays its eggs in the parrot’s nest

  • Graduate Teaching ProgramThe GTP is a semester program of teaching support and development for Post Doctoral Fellows and PhD student tutors and demonstrators at the ANU.  During this time I have also demonstrated in the first year Human Biology 1008 course and undertaken some marking for this subject.

I conducted a project investigating the importance of mistletoe as a nest site. At my study site in Holbrook, NSW, I conducted experiments to understand predation rates, microclimate differences and bird preferences for mistletoe as a nest site versus other parts of the tree canopy.

I was awarded Honours Class 1, with an overall mark of 89%

I was awarded a $5000 Johnstone Centre Scholarship for my undergraduate academic achievement.

I was awarded a $2000 Stuart Leslie Bird Research Award to help complete the project
