I am doing an Honours project supervised by Michael and Hanna Kokko . I’m looking at how fertilisation is achieved in the sea and how this might change over evolutionary time.

* Why do some sea animals broadcast their gametes into the water, while others hold them close to their bodies until they find a mate?
* How does this decision interact with other aspects of life history, such as gamete size and parental care?

I’ll be exploring questions like these from a theoretical perspective using mathematical models. I'm also interested in how fertilisation strategies in the sea relate to those used by terrestrial animals and plants.

Besides Honours, I have a couple of side-projects in sperm competition and in the unusual population dynamics of a Queensland shrimp population.
