Study
options
Undergraduate and postgraduate options
for studying marine science at the ANU provide the most comprehensive
interdisciplinary training of its kind in Australia. Drawing on
diverse expertise in the biological, chemical and physical sciences,
our members provide a global perspective on marine science through
field, laboratory and modeling approaches. Our activities also
cover a wide range of marine ecosystems, including the open ocean,
deep sea, mangroves, coral and rocky reefs, and polar environments.
Our overall aim is to equip students with the skills necessary
to understand and monitor interactions between the oceans, atmosphere,
biosphere and geosphere.

The Faculty of Science currently offers
two undergraduate degrees that specialize in marine science:
We
teach undergraduate courses in marine science that span a broad
range of disciplines, including: marine biology, biogeochemistry,
ecology, fluid dynamics, geoscience, palaeontology & palaeoceanography.
Full details of the courses on offer can be found within the relevant
Faculty of Science departments:
Many of our members take on students for
Summer
Research Scholarships and
Honours projects each
year. Check out the research
interests of our members and contact them directly
about possible projects.
Questions? Prospective students can contact
conveners for the BGOS degree (Michael.Roderick@anu.edu.au)
and Marine Science majors (Michael.Ellwood@anu.edu.au

Postgraduate
Our postgraduate students work on an incredible
range of research projects in the field of marine science, spanning
the full range of research activities undertaken by our members.
If you're interested in doing a Masters or PhD research project
in marine science at the ANU, you should check out the research
interests of our members and then contact them directly. Providing
a general outline of your past experience, research interests
and a short CV is often a good starting point for communication
with potential supervisors. Relevant information on scholarships
and application requirements can be found here:
Questions? Please contact the postgraduate
coordinators for RSES (Stephen.Cox@anu.edu.au),
EES (Scott.Keogh@anu.edu.au),
