Begging for hands on experience?

Volunteer Field Assistant Wanted

I am looking for volunteers to join me for my PhD study on pheasant coucals.
When: November 2005 - March 2006
Where: Darwin
I offer:
- Free food and accommodation at the North Australian Research Unit funded by a Stuart Leslie Bird Research Award.
- Something to put in your CV
- Experience in radio tracking
- Experience in catching and handling ad and nestling birds
- Experience in scientific behavioural observations
Fieldwork in the coucal project is ideal for students that just finished honours and are deciding whether to go on into a PhD My project provides the opportunity to get an idea what it takes to get a PhD and although a chance to gather valuable experience for your own future project.
You have:
- A strong working attitude: Field work will involve early mornings and long hours in a habitat that offers snakes, mozzies and spiny undergrowth galore at 35° C and 95% humidity at best, but the field site also has a crocodile free swimming hole.

- Experience in finding nests is a must, experience in mistnetting is an advantage but can also be learned on the job.

- You can commit for at least 6 weeks time in the summer of 2005-2006

My field site near Howard Springs Nature Park
